Federal Legislative Structure:

•     U.S. Congress: Comprises two chambers:
  
  

         ○      U.S. Senate: 100 senators (2 per state)

         ○      U.S. House of Representatives: 435 members (based on population)

•     Maryland has 8 Congressional Districts (therefore U.S. House Representatives) 
  
  

Legislative Process:

1. Bill introduced by a member of Congress.
2. Referred to committees, where hearings and markups take place.
3. Debate and vote in House/Senate.
4. If both chambers pass the bill, it goes to the President for approval or veto.
